Join DSACF and Florida Hospital for Women for a modified Intro to Safe Sitter®: This course has been designed exclusively for teens and young adults with Down syndrome! It will focus on personal safety in unsupervised settings and will also include basic infant care.
Founded in 1980, Safe Sitter® is the only national nonprofit training program exclusively devoted to preparing young teens to be safe in unsupervised settings, whether babysitting, sibling sitting or home alone.
Safe Sitter® courses are instructor-led and interactive, with hands-on demonstrations and skills practice using soft-bodied dolls and medical mannequins. The focus of htis course is on the pre-babysitting skill set of knowing how to stay home alone and when to seek help from an adult.
