Music Therapy and Wellness (Ages 2-12)

  • DSACF Success Center 204 N Wymore Road Winter Park, FL, 32789 United States (map)

The Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida is proud to announce our newest arts & cultural program. Music Therapy and Wellness is intended for children ages 2-12 with the purpose of exposing children to the enormous benefits of music. The purpose of this program is to engage the creativity centers of the brain in children with Down syndrome or other disabilities. Children with Down syndrome are constantly attempting to express themselves and often failing to do so. Music Therapy and Wellness wishes to explore all different types of musical expression.

Music Therapy and Wellness will focus on expressing how you feel through music. The class will routinely start slowly with jazz and fluid movements, then move into singing and playing instruments. Each session will end with a meditation session to calm our participants through soothing music and positive expressions.

The music groups will be split from 2-6 (Junior Rockstarz) and 7+(Varsity Rockstarz). The session will be 4 weeks long and classes will be once a week on Wednesdays at noon. Below are the dates for the first session:

May 2, May 9, May 23, May 30

Parents of children with Down syndrome are encouraged to participate and learn new ways of communicating with their loved one.
