Our Sib Shop for ages 7 through 10 (entering second to 5th grades) will be held on Tuesday, July 30 and Thursday, August 1, from 10am to 12:30. We will provide a snack and beverage around 11:15, but will not be offering lunch. We have room for up to 10 children in this class. Sibshop Workshop Registration

Our second Sib Shop for children entering 6th through 9th grades will be held on August 5 and 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. You may send a lunch with your child for this day. Sibshop Second Registration

Our goal for these Sib Shops is to allow the siblings of children with Ds to dialogue and openly express their feelings and frustrations, through games, activities and conversation. We hope to teach siblings how to handle difficult, embarrassing or upsetting situations they might encounter, such as when people stare or make fun of their siblings who have Down syndrome. We also hope to ensure that siblings of children with Down syndrome recognize that each child in the family is unique and to encourage children to know they can reach their full potential without feeling the need to “compensate” for a sibling with Down syndrome.

We are truly grateful to Michael and Diane “Cookie” Meyer who have agreed to facilitate these groups. There is no fee, but reservations must be made. Please call 407-478-5621 to register for this class or go to info@dsacf.org.
