You can now register online for the Florida Down Syndrome Conference: Learning wtih Families, Advocates & Professionals that will be held in Orlando on Feb. 24-25. Featured speakers include Dr. Brian Skotko, Lauren Potter, Dan Habib and many more experts from around the state and country. Cost is only $50 for members, $55 for non-members.       This 6-week playgroup for parent and child will be led by speech-language pathologist Kimberly Fries on Tuesday mornings, 10-11am, Jan. 17-Feb. 21. Come join the fun and learn to use American Sign Language during play and daily routines to enrich your child's communication. Ideal for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. $50 for DSACF members, $75 for non-members. Drop-in rates are available. at 10:00 am

      Come to a free introductory lesson on Tai Chi. This free lesson will help you learn what Tai Chi is and its health benefits. Our instructor, Bobby Sullivan, will teach everyone the basics and be available to answer any questions. Make sure to wear comfortable clothing! There will also be a six week course starting the following Wednesday on March 7th at 6:00 pm. The cost is only $25. This includes six weeks of small group and individual instruction.       This Wednesday, 3.2.11 is the third annual Spread the Word to End the Word Day. On this important day, youth throughout the United States and the world will facilitate assemblies, rallies, pledging stations and utilize other venues of education to raise society’s awareness about the derogatory use of the word, “retard(ed)” and its impact on people with disabilities. The word is often synonymous with the word stupid. This campaign also focuses on the inclusion, acceptance and respect as we work on our pathway towards social justice for all. I ask that you please pledge on www.r-word.org and also check out the resources provided on there for a deeper understanding of this pivotal movement. at 12:00 am
